The Syndicates

The following is an explanation of a recent change in the manifesto to preserve the US Senate but get rid of its democratic foundations. J.N.

Fascism is indisputably a meritocracy. Only those strong of will and of mind will rule. Like any other political position, meritocracy can degenerate into a dystopia. In this situation only cunning megalomaniacs would stay in power (much like today). These people would likely crush those who they swore to watch over either in the name of efficiency, or their own. There is a way of preventing this decay, and that is by using Syndicates.

The first question that must be answered, is what are “Syndicates?” The Senate will be made of “Syndicates” which are nonprofit agencies of the government. A person would become a part of a syndicate on their own time, and syndicate will accept members based on their qualifications. These members will vote on the syndicate’s leadership. A syndicate will have a set maximum amount of representatives for the senate panel, but they will need at least one elected. The Senate’s duty will be to assist the president in decision making, but more importantly it will be to set the culture of the country.

Some syndicates won't function this way. These abnormal syndicates include Military (Wartime council) Law Enforcement (Peacetime Council) and Judicial syndicate. The judiciary would work close as it is now, lawyers will apply for being a judge, and will be elected locally. Then there will be elections until that judge becomes a senator, if their career takes them that way.

Syndicates will help the state in many ways. For one they will work as qualified advisors to the president. They will be given power from the president to work as a government agency as well for example the syndicate of invention will be given money to invest in inventions which would help the government. The syndicate of philosophy would constantly analyze the current culture, and look to improve it/evolve it to make the state function optimally.

An important role of the syndicate would be taking the burden of celebrating citizens who have contributed culturally, or technologically off of the corporation. The corporation can then focus strictly on finding leaders, whether they are an average worker or a wealthy tycoon. The syndicate will give everyone a voice, if they are bold enough to use it, and will give everyone the chance to improve their nation.

The final reason for the syndicate is that it provides balance to the state between efficiency and empathy. A syndicate makes the state hard to corrupt. Like the corporations, leaders will constantly come and go based on usefulness. Syndicate leaders will be part of the party as they serve. They will be paid, and may be excused from their corporation if they cannot work and lead at the same time. Few syndicates will have incumbents as invention and theory are constantly evolving.
